A food is an edible liquid prepared for human consumption. Besides their basic purpose of satisfying hunger, foods also play important cultural roles. Common varieties of foods include bread, milk, fruit, vegetables, hot soup, tea and coffee.
In the modern world, there are different varieties of food and drink. The variation can be seen even in ancient cultures. Common examples of these include pasta and pizza, Indian curries and North American barbecue, Chinese noodles and stir fries, Irish coffee and whiskey, Middle Eastern hummus, and Hungarian candy. As for drinks, there are beer (both imported and domestic), Champagne, Vodkas, liqueurs, wines, champagne, and even teas. Common beverage types include beer, soda water, juices, cordial, sparkling wines, distilled waters, non-alcoholic beverages, and flavored waters.
Food and drink have undergone considerable evolution throughout the ages. Common varieties of food and drink include baked foods, breads, cereals, fish and seafood, meat, vegetables, fruits, legumes, dairy products, fats, and wines or beer. Common examples of cooked food include pasta and potatoes, beef, chicken, fish, lamb, turkey, breakfast cereals, sausages, eggs, mushrooms, cheese, pickles and chutneys, nuts, and other cooked fruits and vegetables. Fish and seafood is regarded as one of the world’s healthiest foods. Meats, poultry and fish are considered to be healthy and good for the body. Dairy products and other dairy foods are generally fat-free and therefore better-off for the body.
