When it comes to human health and diet, food and drink play an important role. The three major food groups are carbohydrates, proteins and fats. Eating the right types of food and drink every day can keep us healthy and fit. A drink is basically a liquid prepared for human consumption intended to quench one’s thirst. Besides their main purpose of soothing thirst, alcoholic drinks also play important cultural roles.
Common types of liquids consumed are water, juice, milk and soups. Traditionally water has been used as a better thirst quencher than other liquids because of its lesser calories. But recently researchers have shown that the water/soda preference may not always be the best choice, especially for women who want to lose weight and be healthier. While studies have shown that soda and mineral water does not have the same benefits when it comes to burning calories and keeping the body hydrated, many calories from various food and drink products end up as fat cells. One of the best ways to have a healthier body without increasing your waistline is to replace those empty calories with water.
Another good way to be healthier is to replace instant foods with foods that take longer to heat such as toast, muffins and cereal. Instead of having a cup of coffee with breakfast you should make an apple crisp with a tablespoon of natural yogurt instead. As the day goes on you can adjust the yogurt in its consistency according to how you feel like eating it. You can also eat foods that have high protein like chicken breast or turkey breast rather than opting for a turkey sandwich on whole wheat bread.
